The Best Advent Calendars Are At Hearth Song

Get ready, it's time to kick off the pre-holiday shopping and for us, that means getting an advent calendar.  As a little girl I remember loving opening up each little window as Christmas approached.  Now I am continuing the tradition thanks to Hearth Song.

Did you know the first advent calendar dates back to 1851? This German (we are not German, Polish and Portuguese) tradition took hold at our house earlier on.  At my house, Mom and Dad let me open them right before bed time and it always led to sweet dreams.  Hearth Song has an amazing assortment (more than 30 calendars). Some are quite religious (the Baby Jesus calendar has bible verses inside) others are more playful, such as the Dear Santa Sticker Calendar. (shown right; $6.98)

My pick was the Christmas Star (top left feature; $10.98) We plan to hang this star-shaped advent calendar in a spot of honor by the kitchen.  The 17" calendar has a touch of sparkle and is packed with images of the season (Santa, holly, cookies, angels) in a quilt-like pattern.  Click here to see the full assortment and remember to order early so this arrives for December 1st.

Hearth Song did not pay for this post.  Product was sent for review purposes only.

Hearth Song has some of the neatest things! There was actually one that I loved in the catalog last year-I'll have to see if they still have it! :-)

We received our first ever advent calendar last year. It was actually a gift from my mom to my son. It's a wooden train advent calendar that she found while living in Germany. The kids loved it and the advent calendar will definitely stay a Christmas tradition in our family from now on. :-)

I love an Advent calendar too and have fond memories of doing this with my mom one year!

I got one for my girls this year from Chronicle books it is an Eric Carle one. Fun fun!

I love this tradition too. The train and the Eric Carle version sound cool. Nice to know other moms are keeping this one going.
