Sand Sac Giveaway

A few weeks ago Sand Sac contacted me about their new eco-friendly beach toy and they sent along a sample for me to take on my June beach trip.

I've long felt green guilt for the plastic toys I see that litter up our coasts. The canvas Sand Sac ($11.95) is a great alternative to molded plastic beach toys. Instead of a cheap-o plastic bucket this pail is made of sturdy canvas and includes a wooden scoop (travel note: the Sand Sac is a dream to pack since it folds flat).

One rainy day we used the fabric markers (included) to decorate our pail. Then when the sun started shining again we hit the beach. My daughter loved carrying the sac (the straps are long enough that she could put it over her shoulder and have her hands free). When we got to our spot, she played filling the pail and collecting seashells (see the mermaid we created!). And at the end of the excursion, we had a tote to carry all of our discoveries back home.

I'm not alone in my enthusiasm. Sand Sac has won two awards this year. The Creative Child Magazine Preferred Choice Award 2009 - Outdoor Fun and Dr. Toy's Best Play and Learn Vacation Award Winning Products for Summer 2009.

And here's your chance to win your own Sand Sac to decorate and take to the shore. To enter, visit the Sand Sac site here. Come back and tell me where you would use the Sand Sac.

Love the fact that it's washable-and love that cute bamboo shovel! As for where we would use it? We visit the Oregon coast occasionally, so she could use it there...or at the lake near our house, thanks!

I'm a total beach Mommmy. As a child growing up on New York's Long Island, I had my pick of many local beaches--and I loved visiting my Aunt in Brooklyn, who lived close to Coney Island. Nowadays, living in Virginia Beach means we get to continue to enjoy the sand and surf pretty much year round!

These are a wonderful idea, especially that they can fold up easily and be tucked into a beach bag. We'd take ours down to the Delaware beaches, where my parents have a beach house.

We live about 15 minutes from the beach. This would be a wonderful pack along...I like how you noted it folds flat for travel. I love how they have different sizes available too. I just wish that it was made in USA instead of Pakistan and CHINA (it seems like everything is outsourced and it doesn't make sense to send jobs out of the country).
Nice giveaway though.
